Junior Miss Rodeo Oregon Staheli Jo Wilkinson

The Oregon, Nevada border town of McDermitt is home to fifth generation ranch girl, Staheli Jo Wilkinson. The twelve-year-old daughter of Nick and Jaimi Wilkinson is no stranger to hard work. Countless hours in the saddle on the Trout Creek Mountains has given her the opportunity to both plan and dream about her future.
Staheli’s passion for promoting the sport of rodeo started as a small child as she sat starry eyed looking at pictures of her grandmother as Miss Rodeo Utah. From that moment on she has worked diligently to fulfill that dream. The dream became a reality on August 4, 2007 as she was crowned Junior Miss Rodeo Oregon 2008; winning the categories of Horsemanship, Speech, Appearance, Personality and Photogenics. Staheli was honored to be awarded First Runner up in the 2007 Junior Miss Rodeo Oregon Pageant.
Staheli loves the sport of rodeo and competes in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying and is learning to team rope. When not kicking up dust in the arena, she plays basketball, volleyball, and is an active member of her local 4-H group. She shows family raised Angus cattle and is the proud owner of this years Grand Champion Market Steer. Staheli is a straight “A” student who loves to read and can often be found curled up in a corner enjoying a book.
Staheli truly believes that her love of the cowboy life and her western heritage will help her as she embarks on her new adventure traveling the beautiful state of Oregon promoting the sport of rodeo.

Staheli,
Please let me be one of the first to congratulate you on a great job on Saturday. I am so sorry that I cannot be there for your coronation but you will be in our thoughts and prayers for a great evening and a wonderful year. Like I said on Saturday, you are the only 2008 Jr. Miss Rodeo Oregon so go out and make it your own. Have a great time, especially cherish the time with your family. God Bless you and your family on your "Happy Trails".

Lynn and Jim,
Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers and kind words I know I am going to need them as we begin our year traveling the state. It was nice getting to know you and the rest of the MRO board of directors better and I can't wait to hit the rodeo trail this summer as 2008 Junior Miss Rodeo Oregon.

Meagan, it is so great to hear from you. I think about the girls from pageant often and am really excited to hear that you are going to compete again this year. You did an amazing job! I missed the clinic because my mom had to be in Reno for the weekend. My first rodeo is this coming weekend, and yes I can hardly wait! I will post pictures on Monday. Can't wait to see you again, and keep in touch please I love to hear you all!
